What to expect …
When you pull up to Dundee Presbyterian Church in midtown Omaha, you’ll discover a combination of the old and the new. You’ll find old style parking on local streets (and in the parking lots at Brownell Talbot school), and you’ll experience a fresh and warm welcome. You’ll see people a lot like yourself—from all walks of life—coming together to focus on knowing Jesus better.
When are your worship services?
We offer two distinct worship services on Sunday mornings. A more contemporary service, which we call Rejoice!, begins at 9:00 AM. This service is supported by a praise and worship band and follows a less structured format. Our traditional service begins at 11:00 AM and includes hymns and music led by our choir. During the 10:00 hour we have classes available for children, youth, and adults.

What can I expect on my first visit?
Showing up at a church for the first time can be a little intimidating. We do our best to create an environment where you can just be you. Whether you want to be anonymous for awhile or jump right into the center of things, you’ll find the opportunity you’re looking for. On Sundays, the big, south-facing front doors will get you right into our sanctuary. Handicap entrances are available on the west and east sides of the building. The east entrance also gets you closest to the nursery, the office, and the classrooms. We’ll provide you with a bulletin and a copy of our weekly Newscaster, which gives all the updates on our groups, programs, and events. Click here for the latest copy. After the service, everyone is welcome to grab some cookies or some popcorn and a cup of coffee or some lemonade.
What is a weekend service like?
Our 9:00 AM Rejoice! service is more casual in its layout, while remaining intentional in its purpose. Our band leads us through some songs, we pray together, share in an offering, and hear a message based on the Bible. Our 11:00 AM traditional service is more structured, while still remaining accessible. We combine readings and prayers with music and hymns, relying on the organ and piano for accompaniment. The message that was offered at the 9:00 AM service is given again during the 11:00 AM service. We serve Communion on the first Sunday of each month. Typically at the 9:00 AM service, people come forward to receive the bread and juice, while at the 11:00 AM service we serve people in their seats. Communion is open and available to everyone no matter what church affiliation they might have. We only ask that partakers in the Lord’s Supper have identified Jesus as the Leader of their lives and the one who has set them right with God.
What does the music sound like?
Music has played a significant role in the history and ministry of our church. We’ve found that it has a way of reaching our hearts that words alone are unable to achieve. At our 9:00 AM service, our band typically includes electric and/or acoustic guitar, electric bass, drums, piano and/or keyboards, and vocals. Songs include both newer songs and older hymns set to more driven music.
Our 11:00 AM traditional service makes use of hymns, our organ and/or piano, and our choir. We routinely augment this service with our bell choir, a brass ensemble, or an instrumental or vocal soloist.
What can I wear?
Pretty much anything you want. Knowing that some of us don’t want to stand out too much one way or the other, you’ll find others wearing everything from shorts to suits at both services. As you might imagine, people tend to be a bit more dressy at the 11:00 AM traditional service and more casual at the 9:00 AM Rejoice! service.
What will my kids experience?
Nursery care is available for children who are under three years of age. Care of these individuals is super important to us. We have special rooms supplied with age appropriate toys, and we provide supervised care giving. About halfway through the worship services, children from 3 years old to kindergartners, are invited to participate in Kids’ Own Worship, where they enjoy activities and a lesson geared toward their age level. They are also welcome to stay in the service if desired. During the 10:00 AM hour, we offer classes for children, youth, and adults. Classes, programs, and studies are also available during the week. To visit the children’s webpage click here. To see the youth web page click here. To check out the classes for adults click here.
Do you have something for students?
Absolutely! Sunday mornings at 10:00 AM is what we refer to as CRASH—a youth oriented time of worship and teaching. Other activities are offered throughout the week. To visit the youth page click here.
How Do I Become a Member?
We offer what we refer to as “A Look at Dundee” three times each year. This Sunday morning class takes place at 10:00 AM and falls on four consecutive Sundays. We cover topics like the direction our church is headed, our core beliefs, how Presbyterianism differs from other Christian expressions, how to grow in your relationship with God, and how to become involved in our congregation. Everyone is invited to the class whether or not they want to become members. For those who do decide to become members, we typically schedule the opportunity during one of our worship services the week following the end of the class.
