Dr. Bob Jordan

The first time I visited Nebraska was when my mom, my brother, and I were driving from Minnesota to California in the fall of 1970 to start a new life together on the West Coast. I had no idea at the time that one day Nebraska would become home. It was while growing up in San Jose, however, that I discovered that God was real and that Jesus was God. Later, I ventured down to UCLA where I received a degree in Civil Engineering, and even better, discovered and married Vicky. Four years as an engineer with the Department of Public Works transitioned into a fulltime student gig at Fuller Theological Seminary. That’s where I had my view of God taken apart and then put back together in a more healthy, biblical manner. With seminary completed and Vicky eight months pregnant, I accepted a call to become the Associate Pastor for Discipleship at ZPC—a 10 year old congregation in Zionsville, Indiana. Through the 17 years we were there, God gifted us with two sons, deep friendships, and a couple of changes in job titles and descriptions. Ministry was personally transforming, and the people of the church taught me a ton. A three-year partnership with Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary led to a Doctor of Ministry degree. I love hanging out with my wife and my two sons, Matt and John. I enjoy working out and eating poorly. I like being with people and finding time to be alone. My iPod has pop, old school rock, classical, country and a Harry Potter book on it. Hiking and martial arts are two activities that get my blood pumping. Mostly, I love seeing people come to know Jesus, grow in their faith, and become subversive agents in this world for the Kingdom of God.
